OK, this is not like Kworby's song contest.

Instead of submitting songs and seeing if you can make it, this time you write a song to compete against other writers to see what's the best song PFers can present!

Now, in order to compete, you just say you wanna compete here. Now, since we wanna remove possible favortism, those who do send songs shall (1) send songs to me for posting and (2) all competitors will be given aliases by me! Since I am a huge dork, those who compete will be using European nations as their aliases. Yes, it's Eurovision-style.

Sign-ups for it (should anyone compete) will be taken until Saturday. Songs would be do to me by February 14, and I'd post the songs for the big vote on February 17. Voting would be Eurovision style - you'd rank you ten favorite songs and they'd get point allocated, with the song getting the most points winning it all ^_^

Note: You enter 1 song that you wrote that you like and think you can win with. Only one song. Unless you can't choose. We could do a national final for ya . One song, no themes or rounds. It's a one round thing. Unless we get a ****** turnout, then we can have more songs from people.

I'm better at poetry then I am at songwriting, I haven't written a song in ages.

It'll be nice to see what PF members come up with though, there are probably alot of good sonwriters on here

It is actually the same for me, even though I am not that good with poetry. Plus, I like to think most good songs are just poems with good rhythm I suggest you sharing the wonder that is Pandora's poetry!

I agree - they are both definitely about rhythm (although poetry doesn't always need it and music rarely doesn't either) but to me they seem to be different types of rhythm. It's strange, I can have rhythmic poetry but I finder it harder to find a musical rhythm for lyrics, even though I used to be able to write instrumental music. It's the same with singing lol, I can dance, act and orate but I'm really with it when it comes to singing. I guess the vocals in both the singing and writing of them are my weak point in the area.

I only get rhythm when it comes to given songs, otherwise I am not that good with rhythmic poetry and am much worse with musical rhythm for lyrics. However, I do not think musical rhythm for lyrics is the same as it is for instruments, so it makes sense why you used to be able to write musical rhythm for instruments seeing it is just sounds of instruments.

I have not actually read any of your poetry but I referred to it because I am sure your poetry is just as interesting as you are. That is why it would be cool if you entered this, because eventually something by you will show up.

Ah I see I wrote that last post in haste - it was supposed to say '...but I'm really not with it when it comes to singing.'

Yeah, I found writing instrumental music was easier because I already knew what the notes sounded like rather then coming up with a rhythm from scratch and lyrics to match it. When I write poetry I already have something to say and I get the rhythm once I think about the words and then write them - so I guess the thing is just about finding the right words for the right rhythm. But it's probably different for different people and some find it easier than others.

I can sound like a lot of things easily. I am sorry about that. I did not mean to sound creepy. I meant to say that I was referring to your poetry because it seems like it would be interesting if you submitted it to the contest.

Yes, except I have yet to actually finish one. I usually prefer small poetry, my last "long" poem was written more than four years ago, so it is a little harder to come up with something that could work as song lyrics.

I agree with that. I don't think my poetry would work as lyrics, I think if I ever wrote a song again it would have to be meant as lyrics rather then spoken word. Unlike Mariah and certain other artists who are able to get their dictionaries in their music I think I'd need to abbreviate.
