We had a spelling contest once in a english class. And teacher asked me to spell "delicious" and i did it flawlessly thanks to William and Fergie. D to the E to the L I C I O U S.
Won 7th grade thanks to "camouflage", as I was the only person who knew it.
We will not discuss what happened at County, though. Never.
8th grade I won again but chose to attend a major Scholastic Bowl / Quiz Bowl tournament rather than going to the County level. It was the better decision in the end!
Yes, in 5th grade I was the best speller in my class, but I got knocked out of the first round because I spelled "knapsack" wrong.
In Middle School my Language Arts teacher gave the class one, and everyone knew I was the smartest but she gave me "corridor" and I was like BITCH BYE.
I remember in 5th grade all the losers and me, accused the winner of cheating since his mom worked for the PTA and always helped the school. We SERIOUSLY thought they set it up for him

It's a good thing they didn't ask you to spell tasty!
Yes! I slayed this in elementary school. I won a school spelling bee in 4th grade, I still have the trophy somewhere. The words were so easy though, I think the word that made me win was "misdemeanor."
I did it once in 6th grade. First, we held one in my classroom to see who my class's finalists would be, and I made it to the finals list so I got to compete in the school one.
I would have SO won if I didn't get a damn word called "loiter". Some kid got it right and I was SO pressed.
