So the Premier of Quebec is now blaming
multiculturalism for "bomb throwing" in England...
"In England, they're smashing each other in the face and throwing bombs because of multiculturalism and nobody knowing any more who they are in that society.''
And her party wants to introduce new laws banning public sector employees from wearing religious garb (banning Jewish kippahs, Sikh turbans, Muslism burqas... except they are going to specifically allow the cross to remain in the provincial legislature).
And this is from the province whose soccer organization banned Sikh children from playing (by banning turbans on the pitch). They claim it was for safety reasons, but all other Canadian provinces allow it. In fact, they were ordered to allow turbans by the governing Canadian soccer organization but simply refused, so the province of Quebec was suspended from playing in games... they finally changed their minds when FIFA confirmed turbans were allowed.
And previously Quebec authorities made themselves a laughing-stock when they ordered an Italian restaurant to remove the word "pasta" from its menus, since "pasta" is not a French word... the incident has since been dubbed "Pastagate".
But seriously, the leaders of Quebec seem totally racist and xenophobic to me... am I wrong here?
