It's possible to increase your vocal range slightly but it takes a while to do.
I don't THINK you can train yourself to that level, which is why there are so few individuals with such ranges, otherwise more people would do it I'm sure!

I can see it would take a while. But I wonder why it isnt possible. Mariah started to sing at the tender age of 4, so thats a long time.
You can increase your range with proper vocal training slightly, but some people are just more gifted, Georgia Brown can reach G10 and she is not trained, she has unpleasant tone, has no control over the dynamics and she can't really control the power of her whistle, proof that vocal range does not make a great singer but a tone... not even Mariah can reach that high and she trained her voice from very young age so i don't think every singer can increase their vocal range to 5 octaves...
I think you can improve and stretch out a few notes beyond when you started, but not a WHOLE OCTAVE increase. You gotta be born with the right material in your vocal chord
I have read that your vocal range is something you are just born with. If you can hit a note that means it is in your range and you can train yourself to learn how to properly incorporate it into your singing, but you probably won't be able to expand your voice to hit notes you have never been able to reach.
