The rankings have changed for the four-day Labor Day holiday weekend and now Lee Daniels’ The Butler has become victorious for the third weekend in a row.
The historical film starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey has grossed $20 million for the holiday frame, topping One Direction: This is Us, which had won the three-day weekend. 1D pulled in $18 million over the full holiday, according to Deadline.
Coming in third place was Jennifer Aniston‘s We’re The Millers with $16.3 million, bringing it’s total cume to a fantastic $113.3 million.
Rounding out the top five were Disney’s Planes with $10.5 million and the surprise hit Instructions Not Included with $10.3 million.
Selena Gomez‘s Getaway drops down to number 10 with just $5.5 million for the four-day weekend.
One Direction isn't magically going to only do 1 million in ticket sales Today (a holiday) while The Butler does almost 2x what it did on SATURDAY. Maybe the Butler will win (I don't know) but to say 1D did only 1 million today is a LIE.
