Top 16 Albums of 2006

This year wasn't that great for albums for me. I had great
expectations from a lot of artists but everyone seems to come
short handed. Oh well... they still barely make my countdown.
16. John Legend - Once Again
15. Evanescence - The Open Door
14. Christina Aguilera - Back To Basics
13. Beyonce - B'day
12. Pink - Im Not Dead
11. Tamia - Between Friends
10. Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape

I actually didnt like the album that much when I first heard it. I only liked The Sweet Escape Song and I thought Wind It Up was a lame attempt of copying Hollaback Girl's success. But ofcourse I give everything second chances, Yummy & Orange County Girl really caught my attention. Ever since then Ive been listening to the album a lot. I still think 1st album was better though. But not bad not bad at all...
09. Nelly Furtado - Loose

Very different side of Nelly but you know I really like it. Since it's also produced by Timbo, ofcourse it's gonna have sick beats. Very well done!
08. Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds

This album has a lot of great songs, very well produced and the beats are just sick. Very different from his last effort. Both albums are great in its own rights. Good job JT
07. Jack Johnson - Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies

Wow this album is just great. Everything about it is so simple that's what I love about it. You can just kick back relax and just listen to his soothing music. Great great feel good album!
06. KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope

The only reason I listened to her album was pretty much because of Katharine McPhee's performance of her hit single Black Horse & the Cherry Tree. Ever since then I've been listening to her album a lot. Definitely had a good run in 06.
05. Corinne Bailey Rae - Corinne Bailey Rae

This album was a slow grower for me. I think it was because her first single was just so good that when I listened to the rest of the album none compared to the greatness of Put Your Records On. Yeah I know that wasnt fair. But just recently I gave her CD a 2nd chance and man do I love this album. It is such a great feel good CD. Though it is #5 on my year end countdown doesnt mean it wont surpass any of the ones on top in the future. Definitely a grower!!!
04. LeToya - LeToya

When I first heard Torn it wasnt such an instant hit to me but the person that I am, I like to download every freakin album that comes out. I wasn't expecting much considering she was just Beyonce's backup singer but man this girl made such an excellent album. I usually find R&B albums very unconsistent and I tend to skip tracks a lot but this one just makes you wanna listen more. I would have to say this is the best solo effort ever that came out from the group. Her songs are very simple, raw and beautiful. It has its fair share of upbeat songs and slowjams. All songs are definitely single worthy though some are just instant classics. This girl is very underrated. I guess America is not ready for a great urban chick just yet... I hope she knocks everyone out with a 2nd one soon.
03. Daniel Powter - DP

This album was an instant hit to me. Even though the first single was over played like no other, I still couldn't get enough of this album. This was definitely the most played CD this summer for me. His CD is just full of great adult contemporary songs and a little mix of more upbeat tracks you can sing a long to. If you love Bad Day, definitely get this album. It didnt get as much success as it should have even after a rerelease with new track Love You Lately which is also a very good one.
02. Fergie - The Dutchess

I would have to say this album is far superior than any BEP album. When I found out she was releasing a solo album I had no doubt it was gonna be great. This girl is very versatile and can pretty much sing anything and make it sound good. Even with just her la la las and do do dos, the song will still be great. This album is just pure fun, happy and just oh so delicious. This album has everything from catchy pop tunes, rnb slow jams, hip hop, pop/rock, ballads, etc... and it actually blends in perfectly cause she makes them her own. God this CD is just so good!!!
01. Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts

When I first heard this album I thought it was already very good. Definitely one of the best country/pop albums Ive heard in awhile since Shania Twain. This album is very consistant and every song is very heartfelt and just plain zexy. I loved the album throughout this year but I never thought a country album would top my list for 06. It was a surprise to me after gathering all the albums for my countdown, considering I am not the biggest fan of country music.
