I took a documentary making course this summer. We made a doc on Gun Control in America.

i have sony dslr a65 with stock lens but im workring on getting a telephoto lens

I used to do a lot of cinematography, but I haven't been able to do as much in school. I don't have a camera now, but if I could shell out for one I'd get a Panasonic HVX. Shooting times....well, it depends on the environment. Indoors, it's easier to shoot at night time whereas outdoors it's easier to shoot in the day. It's always easier to reduce lighting than it is adding it haha. I don't have any secret techniques though, but to make sure to have good depth of focus and have it set to 24 fps. Gives it real film look even when using digital!

I honestly couldn't tell you. The instructor provided the camera. I do know it was a Sony and pretty expensive since it came with a microphone on top of it.

i heard panasonic shoots very well i should have gotten one from them i love the GH3


i like shooting at night but the day seems to work better for me

and how do i set my camera to 24fps ?

Depends on the camera itself. Usually it's done through the built-in settings. You just need to look for the frame speed. It's listed in the menus as 24p though.

I use a Sony a55 .. I really love to direct music videos .. But that doesn't mean I'm good at it :/ I need to learn secret techniques myself too. ANd I prefer day because night filming adds another complex factor .
