That music that we like represents our personality?
Well, I'm sorry first if its on the wrong section....
And this is kinda weird question, I know, but I just want to know your opinions...

I, myself, believe it, I have no exact reason for that, but I really do.
So any comments?

I think so examples
Goths- Heavy metal
Ghetto folks- Rap/hip hop
Preppy people- Pop
Those Rockers- Rock

I'm not goth and I listen to metal.

I'm not really sure if my taste entirely resembles who I am, but I respond to more "nerdy"-like music nowadays.

I don't know if it's nearly as simple as matching up relativly arbitrary labels to genres of music, but probably in a way, yes. The themes and emotions behind the songs that someone really likes are probably a decent indication of their personality if taken in a large enough sample.

If the person only listens to one type of music, then yes it does. Like Goth for instance. Usually people who only listen to that are gothish. But when people listen to everything or a little bit of everything and mostly one type of genre, then it's hard to tell. It usually depends though. I would say 75% to 90% of all people are related to their music. Since I listen to basically everything it's kind of hard to tell.....I don't like screaming/emo type music where they basically just scream every 2 seconds, so I guess that just shows I am not that type of a person. Anyways, I like to hear what people have to say about this....

but then there are gays that listen to Korn, POD, Metallica

so it all depends...some people can be related to the music...others nop.

I don't think music is really representative to one's overall personality, but I do think music plays a contributive part. The part isn't major in any sense, but it is noticeable among other bigger influential factors. - (Such as family, friends, how the one was raised, the everyday environment, motivations, and other connectable aspects in a life.)

And speaking from experience, I have dated an awesome happy-go-lucky cheerleader who listens to Metallica and Britney Spears. (I have even seen her bounce around to some parts of the Metallica LP, and have pulled out her St. Anger CD which was located next to a few pop CDs.) I didn't notice any sort of heavy metal-rocker-goth stereotype traits while being around her and she was all about wearing the Yellows and Pinks instead of the black.
