Blood Diamond is a Hotel Rwanda-esque adventure about a man's journey to reclaim his family which has been stripped of him amidst the civial war in Sierra Leone. You may be turned off by this, thinking its a stereotypical lost and found story with happy ending. This could not be more from the truth, this is a heart-wrenching emotional rollercoaster-with a little joke worked in here and there to loosen the mood.
Djimon Hounsou is AMAZING in this movie-I cannot express enough how he just rocks this roll, then again it is rather believable when one considers what he did with his rolls in Amistad and In America. I can almost guarentee that he will win multiple awards for this performance, Djimon just fills all of his rolls with so much passion and emotion they ALL are very believable.
I was not too keen on Leonardo's part mainly because of his South African accent, other than that he did a pretty decent job, but I feel Djimon is the real star here-this movie is a MUST see for everyone-learn a little history lesson as well as see one of the most rivveting performances on the silver screen.
