Not really? Adele's only real influence on the radio was a short-lived resurgence of piano ballads which was quickly replaced by this whole retro funk thing that's going on right now.

I've always thought this was a valid point. Look at the interminable build up to the launch of BTW and the hype that surrounded it plus the expectation that Gaga was going to cement her place as THE dominant female in music. Who genuinely would have expected a girl from Tottenham, London with a decent selling (but by no means spectacular) debut to come and blast Gaga out of the water? No gimmicks, no bull, no wild claims as to how great her album might be, just an album that contained songs that the public could directly relate to and hence buy in huge numbers. To be entirely frank, the emergence of Adele sort of made Gaga look just a little ridiculous. BTW subsequently played very much second fiddle to '21' from the moment it reached its 3rd week and all the momentum that was planned beforehand dissolved.

And we shouldn't forget the influence of Adele upon EDM, all the DJ around the world used remixes with Adele like they now uses remixes with Lana.

David Guetta wanted Adele for a song, she refused but David moved on and had instead a smash with Adele a WW hit with Sia
