I was wondering. do you think it's possible to be a great actress & a singer
at the same time. And which female actress/singer do you think has the best
acting AND singing talent?


I started thinking about this after I found out that Jennifer Landon
(daughter of Michael Landon of 'Highway to Heaven', 'Little House on the
Prairie', & 'Bonanza' fame) who followed her dad's acting career and really
did well in the daytime soap AWS (As the World Turns) went on to launch a
singing career. I believe she only has 1 song out right now, called Slide,
but it's really good. You can check it on iTunes if you like.

Maybe Jennifer Hudson from Dreamgirls, her buzz is huge, and we already know she can sing.

There are plenty of cross-overs, such as Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica & Ashlee Simpson, Beyonce...even Britney Spears. Pretty much all singers/actresses have tried their hand at the other, but I think the only that is known for both is Jennifer Lopez.

I don't think I've ever seen/heard his daughter before.

I think Dolly Parton is the best I can think of right now - her films are loved, she acts well and she's a legend in the music biz.

Think he/she means someone who can really sing, and really act, not wishy wash

Wut are you talking about? Jennifer Lopez does both with some decent success.

First of all that should be past tense because she sucks lately. Second, she can't act for **** so that's probably the disqualifying factor for HER.

How about Cher? She's actually won Grammy's and Oscars (for actual acting categories.)

She isn't a pop star or anything but she has won a Tony and is a phenomenal, smoky-voiced singer.

....and you're basing this on what? Because Glitter is a terrible example which everyone likes to use. Wisegirls actually shows Mariah as a legit actress, but nobody has gone ahead and seen that since it was an independent film. The director of her next movie has already lauded her acting skills and said that people downplay her too much. I guess we'll all see. Jessica's basically proven she sucks as an actress though, and lately her voice is a strained or breathy mess, depending on the song.

Jennifer Lopez for me has the most success both in movies and in movies.

J.Lo has this hollywood charm in the silver screen which beyonce, mariah, etc... doesn't have. J.Lo can lead a movie and she's a bankable actress. Beyonce always play a singer in her movies.

J.Lo can act. Her latest film "El Cantante" had great reviews internationally. They said it can be a contender for Oscars 2008 (next next year).

For me j.lo had success both worlds (except for her vocals).

J.Lo can't sing and does the same act in every movie.

Bernadette Peters. She primarily does Broadway though.
