Seriously, both of their albums flopped and were incredibly weak as far as content goes. Jessica has never been a successful artist. Her second album COST her 2 million since it never sold past the amount that the label gave her to make the album! Ashley outsold her in the first week that she debuted!

And Janet. You know when Justin is dissing on you and your songs all sound the same its time to go. And her label (Virgin) has not problem whatsoever with dropping big names (they let Mariah Carey go after her album with them sold poorly.) Plus, you can only make so many sexually charged explicit songs before it all starts to look incredibly lame and contrived.

Janet is platinum in the US, and Call On Me was the #1 R&B Song. I don't think she flopped, but was not as successful like with JANET or ALL FOR YOU because - guess what - radio never played her. I have a question: When was the last time you heard a Janet song on your local radio? It does not matter how bad a song is, radio always plays it because it has been released. I have yet to hear her songs on radio....that's why she is not as successful....if people don't hear it, they won't buy it.

Jessica...leave her alone. She is more of an actress these days...

I don't claim to be a Janet expert at all,
but regardless of albums sales, i'd label her latest effort as a flop because i didn't hear her album mentioned at all; like on tv or in magazines, or even just friends or family talking about it. I also have yet to even hear a song from it, and I dont think thats through my own ignorance, I think it's because it flopped.

Yeah, her album is platinum but it's actually SOLD half that - so stop acting like it's an accomplishment. It just means 500k copies of 20YO are sitting on shelves right now collecting dust. And her songs aren't just bad, they have NO appeal and they're barely music? I don't understand why they WOULD play them. I like Janet as a person, but her music is just pathetic lately.

Damn this....No one said that she had a major accomplishment....hell, after the Superbowl, it has been downhill because radio and the likes of MTV have not played her videos before the album came out. However, people are very ignorant of the facts. Janet has been cranking out hits for years and now all of a sudden, her music is "pathetic lately". Her music is no different from previous albums; what is different is the state of music and how Justin's SexyBack gets played hundreds of times - the unpathetic music! LOL

Give me a break! I have never seen such a backlash for an artist who was once named an ICON and received every music award on earth. It is ridiculous. And it goes for most of the older artists anyway - Prince, Whitney, Mariah (although MIMI was successful, but her tour was given a bad rap), Madonna, Michael, Celine, the list goes on. I hope the younger artists like Beyonce, Justin and the rest of them enjoy their success. They will be spit on later...it is bound to happen.

You have a few true pionts; but still its still strange ive heard nothing about janet.
I watch MTV, but not BET.
Although I dont love urban songs, the radio stations I listen to play them alot.
Also probably the main reason why I havent heard much on Janet is that right now im in Ireland; and I think Janet's album peaked at like #80 here haha.

Besides all of this; Janet's 'comeback' failed..badly..

Jessica flopped because this year too many HOT artists DEBUT a lot of GREAT albums and we can't deny them (like Justin or beyonce or christina,.........)

Jessica Simpson is signed to Columbia Records and as far as I know, she is a very important sales-wise to the company. Also, do remember that her last album, "In This Skin," raked in sales exceeding 2 million copies.
