I use Norton, Spysweeper, and Spybot.

Norton is good for downloading stuff before you actually receive it (when you use Limewire or something....) Otherwise it pops up and says it deleted some kind of virus or threat.

Spysweeper is a pain in the neck. Every day it pops up saying "Do you want to update your software...and if you do you have to pay for it, so I say just say no...) Otherwise if you change the internet homepage or add favorites, it pops up telling you to either save it or keep it. I only use this if I find that my computer is acting weird.)

Spybot, is very good. Smartah (Chris) showed me to this. This program finds spyware/viruses that the other two don't and it can easily delete them. Sometimes Norton or Spyware can't delete a program because it's too programmed or something. I find this very helpful. So far it's 100% deleted everything I had so far. I recommend it.

What do you use?

I use Ad-Aware, Spybot and AVG Anti-Virus mostly. Also HijackThis to see if there are any bad processes running.

I use McAfee's Security Suite and Ad-Aware.

I have Sophos because it came free with the university network. It seems to work fine because I haven't had any virus/spyware problems, but I do need to use window's firewall. I also use AdAware and I keep thinking I should download Hijack This but I never get around to it.

Smart people don't use commercial/"well known" anti-viruses . Because actually hackers and those who design viruses/spywares know how these programmes work and their weak ponits. So don't believe that your computer is clean when they say so. I'm starting to think that Norton is a virus itself.

I personally use Kaspersky , it works as an Anti-virus , firewall and anti everything you can imagine and I think it's the best one i've had yet . It works perfectly 1000% ,it doesn't make your computer FAT-BITCH like Norton and it detects EVERYTHING .

I was using a trial of Kaspersky but it expired and I don't feel like downloading another anti-virus. (this isn't even my computer. my laptop broke days ago.)

And besides that, I use Ad-aware and Zonealarm.

I think people are sharing too much of themselves on these boards. every day there seems to be a new 'what do you do,' 'whats your favorite,' (etc) thread. Just a thought..

Zone Alarm

Well, I think that's the point of public forums and communities.It'a a way of communication and It's a good opportunity to share thoughts, likes and dislikes and to know people of the world much better. I don't see what's wrong with that?

Now I just use trendmicro.com for my virus scanning. Works like a charm.

I know, I didn't mean to rag on anybody; its just that recently some threads seem to have transcended 'getting to know eachother.' but hey, if i dont like it, i dont have to post replies. so i guess i'll shut it now.
