(In regards to the superbowl halftime-show wardrobe malfunction)
Set aside how funny the situation was for me: I won't pick a side, because both Janet along with Justin + some of the certain MTV/Superbowl producers/staff of that show knew better, and had full control over the situation.
First of all, what was the point behind ripping off that piece of Janet's clothing? They would've been just perfect by leaving that action out. And even if there was still a cover on the nipple, it would've still set off complaints to the FCC, nor would've added any positive value to the performance.
Next, did they realize that there's a difference between a Superbowl audience (Consisting of 50+ million viewers including a broad demographic of conservative individuals, younger children, and families) and a standard MTV audience? No they did not, otherwise they would've respectfully concluded the show a different way.
Finally, if Janet and in particular, Justin, had any sense of respectful repsonsibilty behind the action and each other they would've made a combined apology together on some other nationally-viewed show. ~ Instead of this alleged war going on between them.~ They both ****ed up, and threw another Ax for MTV's percieved reputation as being "The Devil's Channel." (Now they are never allowed to host a halftime show ever again as stated by the NFL comittee.) It's all that simple and they all should reap the consequences given to them.
And I wouldn't emphasize the incident entirely being why Janet's success is declining, there are other factors contributing as well. (Want one? See the lackluster/unpopular single Call on Me.)
But if Justin's remarks on Timbaland's latest track fully checks out to be what it appears, then Justin is going to be hurting himself.
