I've always admired her sense of humor about herself. I mean as bad as most of her music is, I'm glad she doesn't take it too seriously. I'm sure she'll release a lot of good stuff later on down the road.

Not that she's as good as Madonna or even comparable but I see her career mirroring how Madonna's went. In the beginning it was all seen as fluff but then as she got older she also progressed and evolved into a mature yet current sound.

I bet Katy's really regretting that joke by now, everyone has taken it way too seriously. Katy was never planning on making a dark album, she is planning to mature lyrically and image-wise.

Besides, working with Luke doesn't automatically mean it wont be dark - Behind These Hazel Eyes and Who Knew are two of Lukes best songs and they're not exactly about partying and having a good time.
