So,I just got through watching this and was really surprised.I remember a lot of people trashing it and saying Pixar were losing it.For me,it may not reach the heights of Finding Nemo etc. but it's still a very moving and powerful film with great lessons.Thoughts?
No, it's overrated. It gets too much credit for having well done animation and having a powerful independent woman theme, when the film's flaws should outweigh its pluses because they are VERY visible flaws.
It's a cute film with a nice message, but they executed it poorly with Merida's personality. She doesn't act like an independent woman, she acts like a 16 year old girl who is bummed that her parents "don't get her" and therefore only makes matters worse by a) trying to change her mother (after her mother tried to change her mind you) and b) giving her a magical cake that could've easily killed her, seriously she did not understand what she was actually doing.
