NEWS/REVIEWS
Here is my review:
1. Come Back To Me - The first single. I wasn't sure what to make of it when I first heard it, but then it grew on me. It's not one of my favorites on the album, but I don't hate it. 9/10
2. Let Go - Should be the next single. This song has a latin vibe to it and talks about just letting go after a long day. One of my favorite songs. During the bridge, it goes into a sort of swing song. It may not seem like a big deal, but i was suprised to hear her curse in this song, though i'm not complaining. Now someone just has to get Hilary to curse in one of her songs. 10/10
3. Say OK - A great ballad. This was the original first single, but then it got changed to CBTM. I think the ending could have been longer though. 9/10.
4. Never Underestimate A Girl - This is one of my 2 top favorite songs on this album. It's a great dance song. The chorus mixes dance with pop-rock and the result is outstanding. Never gets old. I highley reccomend listening to it. 15/10
5. Let's Dance - Another of my favoties. It also combines dance with pop-rock. I like the synthesizers they use on her voice, even though some people don't. It's a little slower then NUAG but you can still dance to it. 10/10
6. Drive - Sounds like a ballad at first, but then goes into a pop-rock chorus. The song is about leaving home and starting to live your own life. 8.5/10
7. Afraid - This ballad is okay. The way the verses are sung, I could do without, but the chorus and bridge are what save the song. Her voice is great and by the end of the song, it grows into a big ballad. 7.5/10
8. Promise - The song starts off weak to me and it's almost skippable, but again, like "Afraid", the chorus saves the song. I find the whole african chanting at the end of the song out of place and should have been excluded from the song. 7.5/10
9. Whatever Will Be - This song saves the middle of the album from being weak. The lyrics are beautiful and her voice is great throughout. Like "Afraid", the song builds up to a big ballad by the end of the song. This is THE ballad of the album. 10/10
10. Rather Be With You - This song is about a guy who sends another guy to tell Vanessa he likes her, but she falls in love with the "messenger". It's a great pop-rock song, but can get a little repetitive at times. Overall, thought, a great song. 9/10
11. Psychic - This song is weird. It's not about seeing the future or knowing what the future holds. It's about a girl who wants to know what her future is with a guy, so she sees a psychic. Even though the lyrics aren't that strong, the beat and vocal production save it. 8/10.
12. Lose Your Love - Another of my favorites. A sort of dark track. My only complaint is that it's too short. Another dance track. 10/10.
13. Don't Talk - A track at Target or if you *ILLEGALLY* downloaded the album. This, along with NUAG, are my top 2 favorite tracks on the album. The beat makes you want to get up and dance and you will be singing along in no time. Plus, she raps in this song. What's not to like? 15/10
14. Make You Mine - Like RBWY, it's a pop-rock track. Like "Don't Talk"it's on the Target version of the album. It's a fun song and you will be singing along in no time. 10/10
Sure this album has some downs, but all the songs have an up. BUY (not illegally download) the album and listen for yourself.
