This is the only good song off that album. It's actually a great song and it sounds great on radio. So why did radio shun this jem? It's not even on iTunes top 100. And isn't it off of TRL already? Such a shame.

I thought this was one of the worst songs she's ever recorded. Hmmm...

On iTunes, it peaked at around #68 if I remember correctly, but then rapidly started falling.

As far as I'm concerned, Jessica should not rely on an online poll to decide her second single. I Don't Want To Care is a better ballad anyways.

I don't know what you're drinking Rokker but I Belong To Me is the worst song she has ever done in her life, from my standpoint.

Um I agree with Rokker, this is the strongest song off of A Public Affair. It was the only song I really liked has a ballad anyways. I really think it should do better.

Its because of her name. If anyone else sung it like christina then radio would eat it up and play it nonstop but its Jessica Simpson which means they automatically hate it.

Radio nowadays is so dirty anyways. Theres no reason why this song shouldnt be a hit ... its perfect.

Yeah..Its true..I belong to me shouldn't be flopping as it should..Its a respectable ballad..Jessica really put her heart in it but as always the overwhelming hype surrounding the music biz nowadays just doesn't allow songs like this to be as successful as they should be..The radio these days is getting scary and it makes me wonder..For example, how a song like My Love rushed so abruptly to the top of the charts?? Don't get me wrong..My Love is not a bad song..But are ppl really pushing this song because it is good or because it is Justin singing it?? In my opinion, the music industry is losing its sense of credibility..People are liking songs for the wrong reasons..

There's a couple of reasons right now. Jessica Simpson for some reason has never been huge on radio and "I Belong To Me" is just too boring to be a single, not even a filler apparently, as it was scrapped from her original tracklisting. As far as her online poll, everyone knows that that song won because her crazed fans thought it was beautiful and was the perfect mood. They were quite ignorant and weren't thinking about Jessica and how she should sell. An "Irresistable"-esque song is wut she needs most right now. This project looked sooo promising from "A Public Affair" too...= (

Because it's a terrible attempt to rip off "We Belong Together". Jessica Simpson just tries too much ,especially with ballads.

Well it's a good track but many people find it boring. I honestly think she would of done better releasing "You Spin Me...". It's catchy and fun, but will see if there is even a third single off the album.

I'm really disappointed that "I Belong To Me" is a flop, I think it's one of her best songs yet. Especially after "A Public Affair", which was one of my favourites of the year.

IBTM flopped for two reasons.

a) APA was a pretty big dissapointment. SoTheir was no lead in hype for a second single.

But the main reason?

b) There is no Newlyweds to make a hit out of sub-mediocre pop songs like "With You" and "I Belong to Me".

Because daddy simpson has given up on Jessica, and has decided to make ashlee the main product for 2007.

This song was a terrible terrible single choice. I can't believe her fans have such horrible taste in picking the single. It should have been "I Don't Wanna Care" bottom line.

I totally agree. This song is just plain ******. Regardless of what the "fans" want this should NOT have been released. Clearly only 8 year old girls actually VISIT her website and VOTE on her polls.
