Taylor Swift's self-penned, co-produced, signature, country smash hit, "Sparks Fly", has been cited to be at par with singer-songwriter, legend, Stevie Nicks', song-writing prowess, according to the most raved article "Just Kidding, Love Sucks" by Tavi Gevinson:
Quote:
If Britney or anyone who we think of as damaged by pop-stars sexytimes-repression had just been allowed one song with the hormonal power of "Sparks Fly", they might have turned out OK... diagramming Stevie Nicks lyrics, [and] there are a LOT of similar motifs between hers and Taylor's.
"Sparks Fly" was the and first only single from "Speak Now", to top both the Billboard & Mediabase Country Charts and on iTunes All-Genre.
"Sparks Fly" holds the record for the most opening sales by an album track, 113,000 downloads. The song was recently performed for 55,000 fans on Taylor Swift's sold-out RED Tour stadium show at Metlife Stadium, New Jersey.
I'm sure Taylor takes lyrical inspiration from Stevie Nicks. They did share a stage together.
Not only that, Stevie has said how much Taylor reminds her of young Stevie. That mutual respect between a legend and soon to be legend is really lovely.
