I think it's non-linear take on the song. Basically it's showing the moments when all of the beautiful memories are being created. The one's you'll think of when reflect back on that person/situation.
There's a subtle reference to that when the singer is taken hostage in the pirate's boat. Perfection, then disaster, left with nothing but memories.
