TRL Retirement Age Change?
Who is happy about TRL changing the retirement age from 50 to 40 days? i have mixed feelings about it.
for one, i wish they had waited until justin had reached 50 days before changing it, because he was very close and they could've waited an extra week before changing it so justin could retire with the correct amount of days, instead of 43, which is just awkward.
on the other hand, i am glad they reduced the age because now more videos will have a chance to retire, including evanescence's "call me when you're sober", beyonce's "ring the alarm", and even jojo's "too little too late"!
although, if they had changed the date at the beginning of the year, even more deserving videos would have retired, including, but not limited to, avenged sevenfold's "bat country", ashlee simpson's "l.o.v.e", ne-yo's "so sick", and maybe fergie's "london bridge", cassie's "me & u", ashlee simpson's "invisible", jessica simpson's "a public affair", nick lachey's "what's left of me", t.i.'s "why you wanna", and nelly furtado's "promiscuous", among others...

I pretty much have the same feelings as you, but I have a feeling that the TRL crew will use this as an advantage to be lazyasses. They might do 2 TRL's a week for the rest of their lives.

I think that the new retirement is kind of stupid, but good.
First of all, the new retirement will allow more songs to retire, but they won't have accomplished as much because they have 10 less days on the countdown than anyone who retired before J.T., but more video will retire.
Secondly, now the only way to beat Kelly Clarkson's - Behind These Hazel Eyes, is if you stay on top for literally almost all of the days on TRL, which only a select few is known to do so.

I personally don't care how accomplished of a run a song has, as long as it retires. Therefore, i'm happy with this change.
And no, they will not do 2 a week for the rest of their lives...

So now we can expect 3 shows a week and another retirement age change to 30 days in like 1 year.

I hav mixed feeling for this piece of news.
Good:
Allows more videos to retire now.I can see Evanescense,Jojo and Beyonce lining up.and other potential videos that are hitting #1 and stayed tere for a long time.
Bad:
They shd hav done it it ages ago.Why now and not then?
They snubbed Nelly Furtado-Promiscuous(39 days),Ashlee-L.O.V.E(44 days),Ne-Yo-So Sick(46 days) and many more videos that reaching 40 n above or nearing 40 days.
Will tere be any honorary retirement?do fans gets to choose any videos?

I'm also feeling the same way about other videos being snubbed. I mean come on, we here at this forum have been saying they should change since like 2 years ago. If MTV allowed fans to send in comments they would be the perfect show right now.
And charmed_kai I hope they do honorary retirement where they like have 10 videos that could've retired in the 40 day range and we choose like 3. But unfortunately they haven't done one since Jan. 2005 and before that they never did it. Who knows how long the next one will be.

hey...im with u on this.Even since i know about the honorary retirement,i hav already envisioned that fans can ch00se like a couple of almost-retired-videos and makes lotsa fans happy and smiling again.
can we make a petition like get as many ppl to petition for the above ideas and send it to TRL execs so that they can look into it?

Set aside my urges to freaking beat the TRL producers' heads for what they have and haven't done for this show, I like this change. This will allow more videos to enter the countdown.

I hope Ashlee will retire.Nelly Furtado too.Not forgetting Kelly Clarkson's SUBG n Lindsay Lohan Rumors.

How Come fell off at day 48 or 49
I really don't care about the change because who gives a **** if a video retires?
HOWEVER, if I had to pick a video for honorary retirement I'd obviously picked Like Toy Soldiers, seeing as it had 46 days and 25 at 1
