Will.i.am Slams 'The Voice'

The Voice star Will.i.am said the latest series of the talent show will be 'pointless' unless it produces a real star.
Last year's winner of The Voice UK, Leanne Mitchell, has flopped and her debut single did not even reach the top 40, while her album recently missed out on the top 100.
The four remaining contestants on The Voice UK, Matt Henry, Andrea Begley, Leah McFall and Mike Ward go head to head in Saturday's final.
Will.i.am, who is coaching hot favourite McFall, said he wanted to produce an act to 'get people dizzy'.
He said: 'These shows render themselves pointless if they can't identify something that's going to be on the radio and that's just me being part of the show.
'So we spend all this time looking for somebody and they aren't on the radio?
'In my opinion after the show is finished everyone should be scrambling, just like they were scrambling to find the next singer, just to make sure the person who won has a chance, has a shot, at the radio.'
He continued: 'Because that's what the premise is, the premise isn't just a record deal, the premise is a career.'
'After last year I take that stuff too serious and personal especially if I'm there on TV saying 'you know we're going to fight for you and you need to be on my team'. So after you win or lose what are you doing?
'Was it just a crock of bull because your back was turned and you turned around and boom a camera is on you and you've got to say what you've got to say to look all nice and pretty.
'I ain't one of those guys, these are people's freaking dreams and aspirations.'

Is he lying? The Voice has yet to produce a viable star. I don't see the appeal of the show.

He isn't wrong. It's sad though because the girl who actually won, as deserving a winner she may have been, is a guaranteed commercial failure because she doesn't tick the boxes of the cool, trendy artist they can market to a mainstream audience. She's destined to follow in the footsteps of Leanne 900-copies Mitchell who won last year and speedily slipped into obscurity.

He is totally right. What is the point on spending the time looking for a new star if he or she is not going to sound on the radios?

Kelly and Carrie remain the only real stars from big reality singing shows in the US and Idol will always remain superior for that reason. 
And omg. Will.I.Am. just gave me a flawless new idea for a reality show. Let me figure out how to get this to producers and make a quick buck.

He just got two #1 hits and one top 3 in the UK (2012/2013) . Judging in the hottest TV show right now. One of the biggest producers of the past 2 years. Responsible for Nicole Scherzinger, Fergie, Cheryl Cole, Natalia Kills' and most recently Britney Spears' hits. Worked with Bono Vox, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson. You can play around and find another person to drag!
