This thread is not to
1. Attack mods
2. Whinge about certain WPs. But if you have receipts for biased moderation, do post receipts.
3. Ask to bring back NHB
4. Fight
Looking at the Rules & Guidelines, to me some of the definitions seem redundant and nonsensical, and if
this is what mods are using to base their decisions, it's not really a fair help. Sometimes asking a mod to use his or her discretion, common sense or experience to make the
right decisions for cases that seem to be just as
unique as the next seems to be a BIT of a big ask. Or at least in ample cases it has
proven to be.
To summarize this thread is to identify loop holes and issues within the rule book and suggest ways in which we can make rules and guidelines more explicit in a way that there reduces misunderstandings and room for favoritism and biased moderation. It would be nice to discuss this in HQ but there is a lot to cover and the discussion will be buried with wp reversal requests and classy nhb style fighting.
1st to tackle.
Delivery
Delivery
1. Uses of "tbh, imo, imho, no shade" but, to avoid a WP. Sometimes it is successful and sometimes it is not. Its weird. This is a music forum where we discuss, looks and quality of music more than anything. All subjective judgement. So if I say "Gaga isn't pretty", I have a good chance of reciving a wp. If I connect the opinion with imho, I probably wont. I find that very annoying tbh(eli).
2. Uses of smileys. Apparently, you can get a WP for responding to a thread with a smiley and a smiley only as it as seen as "pointless" and without content and meaning. But how many of you have received WPs for using "shady smileys". It seems contradictory.
I got a WP for saying that Demi hasn't got an iconic hit

3. Shady delivery. I don't understand why you just don't ban shade all together. Y should one recieve WPs for spelling the absolute relevant true hot tea, just because the gif they used is seen as condescending? I recall one Rihanna stan saying that Beyoncé's chart presence is not as strong as Rihs (the truth), and received a WP, because of their use of gif.

Definition of Flamebait/Trolling
Definition of Flamebait/Trolling
Flamebait — 1 point, expires in 30 days
You have started a thread or posted a reply that just seems to be fishing for an argument.
Quote:
Trolling — 2 points, expires in 60 days
Specifically and deliberately posting something with the intent to make people mad.

1. The flamebait definition implies that anything that you post that someone would openly and passionately disagree with, is wrong and unjust. And that's just not the case. Mods created the base section which is pretty much the harbor for all nonsensical arguments. The "discussions", or debates that actually intellectual, where people do try to understand each other
instead of shoving their opinions down each other's throats are
closed. So, your defition you have given is something I do no understand.
2. Trolling Wps. Mods usually find it hard to find the distinction between what "trolling" and what is sarcasm and hyperbole. Trolling is JJHB, when you completely immerse yourself with your troll character, when you mean everything you post and leave no hint of sarcasm. I think trolling Wps are given away too thoughtlessly, even when people use smilies and gifs to make it absolutely clear that they are being facetious. How can we solve this?I sugesst a sarcasm font/color/tag?
3. The definition of Trolling and Flamebait are pretty much identical. But they have different penalties. There is no need for having both. Having both is problematic, as it allows the mod to act on favoritism/personal when giving you a 2 wps when another mod may give you 1 or visa versa. I suggest that you either make a clear distinction between trolling and flamebait, or you remove flamebait altogether.
Thirdly
consistency
Consistency
What is flamebait for 1 public figure should be flamebait for another public figure. I agree with equal treatment. And I am not happy with all this unwarned shade and clear flamebait towards not as successful "urban" artists such as
Brandy,
Khia,
Chris Brown, Keri & Michelle Williams.
Just to get the ball rolling. Together we can make ATRL a better place. #MakeAChange
