Tony Stark’s famous closing line to the very first Iron Man film takes on new life today as Marvel is pleased to announce the signing of Robert Downey, Jr. to reprise the role of the “billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist.” Under the two-picture agreement, Downey will star as Tony Stark/Iron Man in “Marvel’s The Avengers 2” and “Marvel’s The Avengers 3.” Downey is represented at CAA by Bryan Lourd, Jim Toth and Matt Leaf and by his attorneys Tom Hansen and Stewart Brookman of the firm Hansen Jacobson. Downey, Jr.’s last two Marvel films, 2012’s “Marvel’s The Avengers” and this year’s “Iron Man 3,” rank as two of the top five grossing films of all time, collectively earning over $2.7 billion worldwide to date.
“Marvel’s The Avengers 2” is being written and directed by Joss Whedon. Featuring favorites from the first Avengers film and new Marvel characters never before seen on the big screen, “Marvel’s The Avengers 2” is slated to begin production in March 2014 and open in theaters May 1, 2015.

Robert Downey Jr. has officially signed on the dotted line for AVENGERS 2 & AVENGERS 3. Iron Man: 6 Man of Steel: 1
Iron Man 6?
It isn't saying there's gonna be an Iron Man 6, it looks like they're keeping score, as in Iron Man: 6 (6 appearances as Iron Man [Iron Man 1-3, Avengers 1-3], Man of Steel: 1 [1 Man of Steel movie so far])

Wasn't the plan for RDJ to do 6 iron man's and 3 avengers?
Nah. Some of the other actors with Marvel franchises have 9 picture deals (Samuel L Jackson, Chris Evans) but RDJ's was a 4 picture deal plus cameos e.g. The Incredible Hulk. There's no way he could do 3 more Iron Man movies cos he's already 48 y/o.

I don't understand why the mentioned MoS either... I mean no sht Downey's Iron Man is in more films, Iron Man came out in 2008 and MoS just came out.
Thank goodness! Now I just need confirmation that either Jennifer Morrison or Yvonne Strahovski as Carol Danvers in A2 & 3 and her own standalone series (preferably as Captain Marvel).

They're trying to build more franchises instead of revisiting others.
2015? I can't believe I have to wait that long. Though I didn't like A1 that much, I'm still looking forward for A2 and A3, specially with these new characters coming in. I just hope, Hawkeye will have a bigger exposure.
Now all we need is Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner 
plus everybody else
