Tech: Android hackers, can you help me?

So basically I own a Galaxy Tab 2 which was bought to replace my iPad 1. It's basically collecting dust because I find it crap to use and simple actions like swiping through icons, visiting the Play Store and downloading music etc. is all faster on my iPad 1 even though it has half the hardware.

As usual I'm late to the party and I discovered that several people have found a way to get the Kindle Fire (or elements of) OS onto a Galaxy Tab.

I hope that gives people a general idea of what the topic is about. I basically want to replace the OS (or Launcher) on my GT2 to the Kindle OS/ Launcher. Anyway, there is no step-by-step instructions on what to do on the internet and I was wondering if there was anyone familiar with the experience to give me some instructions? It seems everything is there, I just don't know how to do the working out. If anyone can help, that would be amazing!

Let me first say that I highly do not recommend this, lol. I can only send you in the right direction, I won't really be able to help you after this.

You need to first root ("jailbreaking" for android) your galaxy tab and install CWM Recovery for your device. Here is a video tutorial for that.

Now what you're doing is installing a custom ROM. Here's a step by step tutorial on how to do that. You install the file Kindle ROM here, or any other ROM (there are so many - some are much better than the Android that came with your device).

The ROM you want is (I believe?) the one on the page you posted, here. I have never heard of someone trying this IRL so I don't know the consequences here.

If ever you fail, here is the tutorial to send you back to stock android for the GT2.

I wouldn't try something as complicated as installing a completely different OS if you're inexperienced with rooting and CWM recovery. However, assuming you have the Galaxy Tab 2 (7''), you can read up on mostly everything here. That's the master thread in the XDA forums, and the first guide on the list can help you root and install recovery on your tablet.
