3/5
The actors are all fine, but it's the script and direction that are at fault. The script is really weak and incredibly bland. There's no fizz in the dialogue whatsoever. Just actors delivering banal lines as best they can. The main problem though, is the sheer amount of boring action. I absolutely adore big action set-pieces in movies, but the action has to be clever, exciting and entertaining. There isn't a single memorable moment of action in this film, and yet it contains vast amounts of it. The action is so fast, it's just one big mess of over-saturated CGI visuals. The last 40 minutes of the film could be from any of the Transformers movies. Endless scenes of buildings toppling over and 1000s of people running etc etc, but at no point is it ever even *remotely* exciting or gripping. It's just tedious. As I say, the actors do as good a job as they can, and there are a couple of touching moments between Clark Kent and his earth parents(Kevin Costner in particular, is excellent), but aside from that, you don't really give a toss about any of it. It's all too big, loud and bombastic. It's a like a bloated Michael Bay action-fest. Zilch in the way of energy or thrills, and for a superhero movie, that's a serious problem.

Your score and your write up are quite at odds. Your write up is so severe while the score you gave is good.

It was enjoyable. Not my favorite hero movie, but Henry was gorgeous. ;]

B-! Honestly, I enjoyed it at times, but it was action sequence after action sequence, like come on! Build a storyline! A good action film has both good dialogue and action scenes.

This makes me feel better that I'm not alone. It was stupid of me to make promises to someone that wanted to see it on Sunday.

Nope!
And yes, I enjoyed it immensely. Didn't feel like it was over 2 hours at all, and Henry is...

I enjoyed Amy Adams. All the materials in the movie have potential, the result is underwhelmingly expository and bland though. Quite meh. 2.5/5

5/5. Saw it for the second time today. Loved the story, the villains, and most importantly, the action.
Superman was great. It was interesting to see his internal conflict. As well as seeing him actually become Superman.
Zod to me, didn't stand out as much as he should have as a villain. But his little speech at the end made me feel kinda sorry for him.
But I definitely recommend the film. Go see it.

I thought it was brilliant. It was everything a summer blockbuster should be. Thoroughly entertaining. I just don't understand how anyone can say it was "meh."

I didn't like that they didn't give much story of how he was found and more of his childhood
I give it 3 1/2 stars
