I actually liked the movie. It shows the psychological conditions Americans exhibit when interacting with others depending on social class and important.
In the movie it says no government officials of a certain rank or above can be killed and no weapons above class 4 can be used. (No Nukes, etc.) The rich want to basically eliminate the poor and defenseless to make the country appear superior and "pure", and because they simply can. It's the thrill of changing from a country hellbent on violence and corruption to an oasis where everyone an pretend things are alright then release all that hate they hid behind smiles all year. They believe it's their American right to purge and eliminate anyone not stimulating the economy or contributing to society.
I won't spoil the movie since that is basically and overview, but they movie is pretty good. I just wsh the themes were more apparent in the film.
