Not surprised. The GP doesn't like when artists grow up it seems.
No. Black lash is faced only when flammable subject matters are handled tactlessly, like these lyrics. I'm sensing deja vu back to when she was inappropriately grinding on that ice cream cart stripper pole at one of the awards show and she faced criticism for being unnecessarily raunchy.

It has nothing to do with 'growing up'. People are concerned that she released a cheery, colorful pop song with nonchalant references to doing coke and ecstasy.
People are usually quick to react to singles where the "artist" is intentionally trying to court controversy in order to generate publicity for an upcoming release. However, the cultural appropriation in the song and the ensuing video is definitely more troublesome...to me anyway.
Oh God, they are doing worse than they did with Can't Be Tamed and back then she was 17!
And for the people who say: she was cheerful and now she is blah blah.. the same can be said for Britney, RIHANNA(especially) and others pop-stars so STOP IT
Could have handled the transition better considering her fanbase consists of five-year-olds, but you can tell she doesn't a **** either way and that is why I like her.
