So I'm reading some of yalls comments about Lana wearing fur and making a big deal out if.

It boils my blood because when you go out to eat you don't care about the animals that were abused taken to the slaughter house to be cooked for YOU to eventually eat them. It is possible to live without eating meat.


So do you pretend to hate fur because you feel more...holy or what?


I really do think people here pretend to be all anti fur.

This, which is something people on both sides need to understand.

just annoyed @ how a lot of the people here can be hypocritical and act like saints.

Wearing fur for vanity/fashion is unnecessary and basically selfish. Eating meat is the easiest way to gain a lot of essential vitamins and nutrients, and it's a part of nature. Animals hunt each other all the time, you don't see them wearing each other's carcasses out on the plains of the savannah in Africa though.

I don't even care about fur but I'm not going to delude myself that there's no difference there.

I think some people just use it as a reason to bash the person.

Although they have every right to be anti-fur and eat meat at the same time. It might seem hypocritical but it is two different issues that are not mutually exclusive.

People view eating meat as a necessity and it actually helps us. Wearing fur 99% of the time is not needed (unless you're like an eskimo living in the middle of nowhere in below zero temperatures every day) and it doesn't provide any benefits, the only reason people in the modern world wear fur is "because they like it" which isn't much of a justification for the abuse animals go through to be made into coats and other "fashion".

Does thinking that people pretend to care about fur make you feel better about arguments against your opinion?

Who's to say humans are meant to live without meat? Are lions and wolves atrocious creatures for feeding on slaughtered animals?

Honestly, if I were to be rich, I'd be rockin' dem fur coats.

Saying it's a different scenario because meat is food and fur is for vanity is a ridiculous argument. You can go around and say "I just had some juicy sirloin from Outback" but you can't say "I just bought this gorgeous Gucci mink coat"? We eat meat primarily because it tastes good. It pleases us. Most people aren't concerned about the nutrients from it. We might as well argue that people wear fur because it provides them with warmth, a basic human need.

However it's a totally different situation when we're talking about where the fur came from. Animal abuse is obviously disgusting and it seems like that tends to be associated with the fur trade more so than the meat industry.

I would personally never buy anything with real fur, but I'm not going to crucify someone who does wear it.

Btw, you can't compare food w/ fur. Fur is used for materialistic purposes.

I tend to agree in thinking that it's largely hypocritical for a non-vegetarian to be an anti-fur advocate. I understand why people make the distinction (yes, there's the argument from utility), I just don't think any really hold up to scrutiny under a consistent moral/ethical framework.

Mostly, I think it's a matter of social conditioning and bias toward selectively opposing the killing of animals that are "cuddly wuddly" enough as opposed to cows who are, let's face it, pretty fug tbh.

Most of us aren't up here eating exotic minks which are used for fur clothing though. Now leather from a cow could be a different story because we do eat cows.

THIS! That argument is stupid. I don't understand why people don't just wear fake fur, though. I don't understand the luxury of wearing fur. I understand leather because we already eat cows, but mink and fox...no. To each his own, I suppose.

You are so ignorant. You are being sidetracked by delusion and missing the bigger picture.

Fur clothing is a high end product which involves the skinning of captured wild animals to obtain the furs. Due to the complexity, costly and lack of knowledge of the process, these animals are rarely bred and for that reason they are hunted uncontrollably everywhere since they fetch high price. Most of the species are at the verge of extinction to satisfy the likes of Lana Del Rey or whoever else wearing fur.

You can't put cows and goats in the same context with them. Even to produce wools, the sheep is shaved not skinned. They are bred on massive scale to produce meat and skin. Their numbers won't see a decline anytime soon.

It's only normal to protect the rare species so our children will hopefully get a chance to see them with their own eyes like we have. Good luck.
