Do you agree that singers should stick to their singing talent shows and free up those spots for the crazy and wonderful talents that don't get that tv exposure, or it's all fair game and that act is smart for ignorin those shows and takin the quicker route to fame??
With Britain's Got Talent having its live finals this week and a singer from my hometown being on it, my facebook has been quite two sided. One side is praising him, obviously, but the other is up in arms that yet again another singer is takin a spot in the finals from a different act. Over in the UK, there's X Factor and The Voice as tv talent shows for singers, and generally any country that has a Got Talent show will have a singer only equivalent.
I only agree with kids under the age limit or adults over the age limit for Idol shows. If they allow singers on the show (they usually comprise of half the damned finalists), what differentiates them from The Voice, Idol or X Factor?
Depends on what kind of singer they are. Susan Boyle, for example, obviously made the right choice by going for Britain's Got Talent over The X Factor.
I think it would be more fair for those too young/too old(?) for other singing contests to join, but I don't mind those who could join Idol or something to join (Norway's) Got Talent either. I think dancers have had huge popularity over here though and there's no other show for that in years. (So You Think You Can Dance haven't been on for years in other words)
No they shouldn't stick singing TV shows like the X Factor or The Voice. Those auditioning for the X Factor need to have that pop star appeal in order to advance to the final stages. This includes good looks, contemporary styles of music and relevancy. The Voice is similar, but after the auditions the formula seems to follow the X Factor.
Britain's Got Talent is open to those who have different singing styles which are outside the pop star norms. Looks do not matter and neither does the genre. However I do disagree with those who audition for BGT when they tick all the boxes of the ideal X Factor contestant.
