Guy Oseary, Troy Carter, and Scooter Braun (manager of The Wanted) all sat down together with the Wall Street Journal to talk about various things such as their respective artists, business ventures, and the current state of the music industry.
We recommend that you watch the entire interview, as it is very intriguing, but if you’re just interested in the Gaga-related bits, skip around to 13:40, 15:00, 16:00, 24:00.

When asked about Gaga’s upcoming album, ARTPOP, Troy said:
One of the things that came out publicly was that we’re working on an application right now, just because you can’t interact with an MP3. It’s very passive to get in your car, you turn on the radio and listen to a song. To actually engage with the music in an application, we feel that’s kind of pushing it towards the future and will probably become the standard.
Just allowing fans to engage with the content. Back in the day, you open up your album, you read the liner notes, you read the lyrics, you wanna know everything there is to know about that artist. To be able to turn the album into a living, breathing thing.
At around the fifteen minute mark, Guy is asked how he would "break the Madonna of today". Before answering, he points to Troy and says, "I'll leave it to Troy."
There you have it. Confirmed. Gaga is the Madonna of today.
I don't believe they're implying that Gaga is in any way replacing or somehow erasing Madonna's impact on the pop landscape, rather I believe they're saying that Gaga is very much the modern day pop phenomenon that Madge was at her peak.
