Speaking on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Climax singer was quizzed about JB, where he revealed it's tough to live a normal life when growing up in the showbiz spotlight.

Usher said: "Key word, you started with young. And I think all of us in some way have humble beginnings that pan out to be incredible and we hope that in his transition as friends and family who has helped him be who he is.

"That he'll continue to just mature but you know in this days age of social media. There is no privacy and that kind of trail and elimination period is kind of done in front of a camera."

When asked about the negative press Biebs has received in recent weeks, the 34-year old explained: "It's been done in many, many other celebrities are product of it and some come out bad and some come out good. I am hoping for the best.

"I don't look at as a negative though. I look at it as a teenager. A teenager having to live his life in front of a camera. Imagine if you had to do that as a teenager."

He also stated that whenever he gets the time, he likes to help JB, adding: "Obviously when I can be of help I do so. Reach out and stay connected."

Usher is part of the initial problem. Usher is immature and childish for his age. I really believe Bieber could have been more classy instead of "swaggy" had he chosen Timberlake as his mentor.

There is nothing wrong being young and reckless but in Justin's case his driving is dangerous. He could literally kill someone.

He can smoke weed and sleep around all he wants that's his business but he needs to chill out behind the wheel.

I'm not a Bieber fan, but I believe Usher has a point. Having said that, I also believe that Usher has something to do with it. Maybe he wasn't the right mentor after all.

On topic: They are trying to do damage control, but dozens of stars grew up in the spotlight and they didn't act like Justin, so I disagree with Usher's attempt at an excuse

It's true. Bieber was not that bad when he first came out. Yes, the music was corny and yes, his fans were still annoying, but he was not walking around with the self-entitled attitude that he has right now.

For anything to change, he has to change the people around him. It's quite clear right now he is surrounded by yes men who will defend him unconditionally so long as he treats them well. It's just gotten worse and worse over time and now he's involved in two criminal investigations

What about Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Bynes, Chris Brown, Brad Renfro, and Haley Osment? They're worse than JB and all of them "grew up" in the spotlight. Their are plenty of child stars who grew up in the spotlight and did the same or even worse than JB.
