^ That's exactly it. At the end of the day, who knew the likes of Rihanna, PCD, and even Carrie Underwood would sell more than Jessica Simpson, and potentially Beyonce.
I think it's too early to call with Christina. Especially since "Hurt" could do well and ANOM isn't quite finished yet.

Beyonce - 2 singles flopped ----> But I'm sure she will have good sales the first week
Xtina - New album underperforming ----> She will go 2XP with this but it might take a while... There's no big hits in the album
Jessica - flopping ---> Really Flopping
paris - flopping ---> Who Care???
Pink - FLOP!! --> Why??? That album is good... it's a shamed
it actually sold 460k when Try This sold 700k well considerin 5.3m of Missundaztood and and 2.4m of Can't Take Me Home it s a flop but it isnt done yet
Christina Aguilera is almost guaranteed to have a strong chart run. Beyonce has been weaker than expected, but not exactly a flop. Who said Jessica Simpson is flopping? Who said Paris Hilton was going to do well...so technically, it isn't a flop.
The only flops this year are Pink and sadly, Christina Milian.
The Pussycat Dolls and Rihanna are the pleasant surprises.
Beyonce - 2 singles flopped [Deja Vu didn't flop, RTA hasn't even started but is on radio]
Xtina - New album underperforming [I think 340K 1st week is not underperforming]
Jessica - flopping [Yes her album sucks, but APA did good for a Hilary song]
paris - flopping [like this wasn't expected]
PCD, Rihanna, and Nelly are all surprises. No one thought that they would last. Last year there was thread where people listed what new artist will still be around in the years to come and hardly anyone said Rihanna or PCD. Nelly F. was just like out of nowhere success so yeah. Next year is Britney and we'll definitely have fun with her.
At the end of their respective era, IMO, they will have sold the following:
Beyonce "B'Day" - 2.5-3 Million
Christina Aguilera "Back To Basics" - 3-3.5 Million
Janet "20 Y.O." - 1.5-2 Million
Nelly Furtado "Loose" - 2-2.5 Million
PCD "PCD" - 2.5 Million (they're pretty much there)
Rihanna "A Girl Like Me" - 2-2.3 Million
I'm not including re-releases, which at least 2 of the albums listed above are guaranteed of. Anyway, just felt like predicting lol.
