Obviously religion teaches homosexuality is wrong but I also personally feel that religion is more about having your own individual connection with God so you can view things differently while still believing and actively practicing.
That's actually a difficult question to answer since religion itself doesn't despise homosexuality but the preachers do but anyway... I'll answer no...
Yes. You don't have to adhere to every specific teaching of any one denomination of any religion to be religious. If you choose to believe in a Christian view of creation and life but don't believe God sends homosexual people to Hell for eternity, that would be an example of a religion that could be easily followed by a gay person. But then, who says they can't still believe they're doomed to Hell, or whatever "punishment" their religion associates with not being straight? It may be depressing and self-defeating but there are gay people who hold such a belief about themselves.
I feel obligated to say that my viewpoint on this might be a little different because I'm atheist and therefore I wouldn't actually be 100% acquainted with all the intricacies of any religion.
Hmmm good question, I dont really see how gay people can be very religious where somewhere down the line, God doesn't like the lifestyle you live. Also people would never take them seriously for this exact reason.

Who says that?
Perhaps a bunch of extremists, but religion can be anything.
Of course. I am. Also religion is too vague. Not all religions are anti-gay. And most were founded when it was taboo and socially wrong to be gay. Don't forget dat.

"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22)
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. (NKJ, Leviticus 20:13)"

There's way more than one religion/belief system and not every religion believes in the same god (some don't believe in any).
