Ok this trailer looks nothing like the pitch black, cynical comedy the movie is supposed to be.

FAMILY BRINGS US TOGETHER / FAMILY KEEPS US TOGETHER

Hopefully it's just false advertising to attract a larger (middle-aged, female) crowd.

Meryl, on the other hand, is showing us yet another different characterization.

Another Oscar for Meryl (?)

If you don't know the play this trailer might be misleading.

Nicole, but people who've seen it say it stays true to its black comedy self. The trailer looks hideous, though, I expected the color palette to be much brighter and colorful, almost Almodovaresque but I got this southern looking mess.

I'm glad it's not all bright and colorful. It's not a Nancy Meyers movie. Almodovaresque colors wouldn't really work either. And well, this IS about a messed up Southern family.

Oscar nomination is expected.

The trailer looks true to the source material, meaning that their lines are intact.

Maybe people are expecting the movie to be darker than it necessarily is. The undertone is not cute but you will laugh.

And the posters look like this so I have no idea what they're going for.






I'm only concerned about the choice of music. They better not screw this up and set the wrong tone over it.

I actually think Roberts comes of way better than Streep in this trailer. Meryl seems kinda phony, we'll see though.

Am I the only one excited to see Julia and Dermot reunite? That's probably the only thing that could possibly motivate me to want to see this.

Can't wait for this. Best Actress at the next Oscars is gonna be really exciting.
