I think so.

This movie is freaking genius. It obviously spawned Mean Girls. But unlike Mean Girls, which was the lightest, fluffiest Dark Comedy ever made. Heathers is the darkest I've ever seen. The entire movie is about murder and staging it as teen suicide. The movie centers around a clique known as the Heathers (All 3 are named Heather) and an up and coming popular girl named Veronica (Played by Winona Ryder, and what spawned The Veronicas?).
Veronica meets a guy played by Christian Slater and madness insues! The movie pretty much turns into a drama by the end, but then the comedy returns for the finale.

The movie is filled with hilarious quotes, such as "F@ck Me Gently With A Chainsaw". It created so many phrases we use today. I seriously recommend this to anyone who enjoys twisted comedies. But I would not recommend it to those who are offended easily, as it it freakishly offensive.

Its easily my favorite movie of all time.

I'm glad you made this thread. Everyone treats "Mean Girls" as an original, culture-defining, supposed "Dark Comedy." MG is good but not that good.

I first saw Heathers at the age of 5 lol. Yes, it was bit disturbing when I was young but as I grew older, I grew to love this film very much. One of the best movies of all time, IMO.

Slightly off topic but Winona Ryder chose alot of weird/dark films to do in the late 80's/early 90's. "Edward Scissorhands", "Beetlejuice", "Mermaids" (well sort of lol), Bram Stoker's "Dracula", "Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael", & "Night On Earth." Those weren't the only "weird films but in such a short period, she filmed so many outlandish films.

I saw this when I was about 4 or 5. Its the best movie for teens of all time. It dealt with suicide and a lot of other stuff. I still quote most of the lines from that movie still

"LICK IT UP BABY, LICK IT UP"
"NOOOOO!"
