I see why it shouldn't be a movie. Holden hated phonies. Hollywood is the epitome of phoniness. The film would be the antithesis of the novel. But god damn it, I WANT it.

There might be a play of the novel. I don't know, I found him far too pessimistic and needy, and people like that bother me. The book is one of those that you either love or hate no in between.
The book will be a film, but not in our lifetime. Since copyright says something will lose its rights 50 years after the author dies and then some more years.
