Celeb News: Kid Rock: "Jay-Z, Timberlake tour is 'highway robbery'"

The Detroit-raised rocker is taking issue with musical pals Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake, blasting their forthcoming "Legends of Summer" tour for its lofty ticket prices.
"It's highway robbery, I don't care who you are. I would consider both of them friends in the business but I don't agree with it," Rock said during a recent appearance on "Piers Morgan Tonight."
"It's garbage," he added. Tickets for the Jay and JT show start around $90, and max out around $250.
The "Cowboy" singer pontificated on the value of, well, value. He says he took a pay cut for his own Reben Soul summer tour, insisting on $20 ticket fee.
"I've always tried to keep prices at what I think are fair. I've always said I'm proud that I can walk around with my head held high knowing that I haven't taken an [honest] dollar from a working man," said Rock.
Some venues will also offer $4 beer specials, $20 food packages, and even free sandwiches in certain markets, according to Rock (real name Robert James Ritchie).
Reps for Timberlake and Jay-Z were not immediately available for comment.
It's not all pocket-lining for Beyoncé and Jessica Biel's guys: Jay-Z is offering an all-expense paid trip to the New York stop on his tour with Timberlake to a lucky fan who donates as little as $5 to his non-profit Shawn Carter Foundation.
The package also includes a look at his Life + Times editorial offices and dinner at the 40/40 club, where he and Bey have previously hosted fetes like fundraisers for President Obama's reelection campaign.

Isn't he big on the US? Nonetheless, I think he's right, I mean, with these economical crysis artist that truly want people to appreciate their music should low their pays in order to reach to everyone who would love to see their show, it's what Bon Jovi, for example, has done in Madrid, and it's been successful for him!

He did sell like 24M albums in the US, but I don't know how much his last album has sold.

$90-250 is not that expensive. They have to pay people/for production, etc. as well. He really can't compare how his shows are to that of rap legends/pop stars.

It's Justin and Jay-Z, not Jay-Z and Justin. Jay can't tour on his own. He asked Justin to tour together. The tour is sold out with expected gross of north of $60 million from only 15 dates so.

Considering that number of dates, it's quite normal that their tickets are so expensive; if they had to do a world tour I don't think they succeed...

Justin will do a solo worldwide tour with another NA leg in late 2013/early 2014 and I'm sure it will be another success. His previous tour grossed $150 million worldwide from 100 dates.

I've heard this tour wasn't sold out, though, hence why he wants now Jay-J as a back up.

Nevertheless, Adele said the same that she want to keep the prices low, but we should take in acount that some shows have a lot more gimmicks and therefore much more production costs.

But up to 250 $, jeez, thank God, that many artists I love, like Neil Young, don't even allow vip tickets, he calls it BS.

Jay Z has in the past and will tour/headline alone again in the future.

To be honest, when you take into account that you're effectively paying to see two of the most successful Americna male artists of their generation, $90 isn't too expensive. It'd be a little pricey if it were just one of them, but since you're literally paying to see both of them at one concert it's a fair price imo.
