Monday’s two-hour episode edged up 2 percent to a season-high rating among adults 18-49. Airing against all-original competition, The Voice continued its rise with new judges coaches Usher and Shakira. Not only does this multi-week climb go against the usual post-premiere trend for TV shows, it also helps erode an early criticism of The Voice — that the show’s popularity drops once the chair-spinning blind auditions conclude.
If anything, one would have expected The Voice to go down tonight because of the tragic bombing attack on the Boston Marathon. Oftentimes major news events send TV viewers to the cable news networks and Internet for ongoing coverage in the prime-time hours. CBS was seemingly impacted since its entire lineup was notably lower this week, with every show either hitting a season or a series low.

Shakira. This is the first season I've been able to get into. I kinda hope Cee-Lo doesn't want to come back + we get Legend X and Shakira on the same panel, along with Blake and Adam.
