I applaud these efforts because we've spent almost 50 years now spending trillions of dollars on the ridiculous "War on Drugs" which was lost before it even began. Anyone who believes we can have a drug-free society is a deluded idiot and cannot be brought into any rational discussion on this debate.
Ecstasy is a great example of the failure of the war on drugs. What is little known to most people is that pure MDMA (AKA ecstasy) is a
relatively safe drug with little addictive qualities. Unfortunately, because the DEA criminalized it, the drug sold on the street as ecstasy is infinitely times more dangerous because it's being cut with dangerous chemicals in order to make it cheaper for drug dealers to produce. So not only are billions of our tax dollars going to enforce the law against this drug, the enforcement itself is making the drug more dangerous.
