Britney Confirms Vegas + Official Details
Quote:
It's Britney, bitch!
Media fixation and international pop-star Britney Spears is ready to take on Las Vegas, and only the Las Vegas Sun has official details behind the mega-star's move from the Los Angeles suburbs to the Sin City lights!
Contract Details:
Britney Spears - via her conservator, father, Jaime Spears - will be employed by Caesars Entertainment, the entertainment conglomerate which owns Planet Hollywood where Spears' will perform during her residency.
Spears is contractually obligated to perform two nights a week, with an option for a third night during the summer when interest in Spears' shows are expected to increase.
While early estimates had Spears cashing in with payments that would amount to nearly $100 million by the end of her residency, Caesars executives backtracked after Beyoncé's lip-syncing scandal in January.
"Beyoncé's lip-syncing scandal at the Presidential Inauguration temporarily scared off executives from employing Britney, who is a well-documented lip-syncer," said Jessica Roberts, Las Vegas Times entertainment beat reporter. "Executives feared that audiences wouldn't pay to see a performer - many argue is past her prime - simply not sing live."
Seemingly the deal had reached a stalemate with Britney's management, led by Larry Rudolph. Team Brit was holding out for money closer to the $100 million range while executives wanted an incentive-laden contract that would reward Britney if her shows sold well, but wouldn't break the bank on her up-front.
"Simon Cowell learned the hard way after paying Britney $20 million to judge "The X-Factor," only for her to offer nothing worth while to the show," Roberts added.
Team Britney settled closer to Caesars' desired amount -- Spears is guaranteed $25 million dollars regardless of how her shows in Vegas perform. Based on performance incentives, and other fine-print legalities, Spears can make a maximum of $75 million by the end of her residency.
"We are thrilled to have one of the greatest performers of our generation performing weekly in our theater," said Planet Hollywood representative Janice Topher.
The timetable of Spears residency depends on how long it takes her to complete her 45-date run. Spears' team wanted 40 performing dates, while Planet Hollywood wanted 55 - another reason why discussions took longer than expected.
"Britney thought 55 dates was too much," said an insider close to Britney's representation. "She wants enough time to relax before planning her next career steps."
According to the same source, Team Brit is eyeing late summer, early Fall to release the eighth studio album from Miss Spears. Spears will take the remainder of the year to promote the album before taking a break around the holidays.
"Once the new year starts, Britney will go immediately into rehearsals for the Vegas shows," said the insider. "Shows will begin Summer 2014 and run until Spring 2016 at the latest - maybe earlier depending on how many shows [Britney] does a week."
Britney is in good spirits about her busy schedule and is ready to get started.
"I can't wait to perform for the greatest fans in the world - and for them to come to me instead!" Spears told The Sun exclusively with a chuckle.
Mom By Day 'Femme Fatale' By Night:
"Britney really enjoyed her recent trip to Las Vegas," added a source close to the popstar. "Most importantly, she saw that Vegas offered a stable environment for her two kids."
Sean Preston Federline, 7, and Jayden James Federline, 6, are reportedly looking forward to the move to Vegas and new surroundings - which re-affirmed to Britney that moving to Vegas won't be detrimental to their family.
"Britney's number one concern is her boys, she wouldn't be doing this if she didn't have their support," added the source.
Britney is still meeting with local realtors and is interested in buying a property outside of the Vegas strip and in the ritzy suburbs.
"The last thing Britney wanted to do is live in the same building she's performing in," said the source who added that Britney didn't want to feel "confined."
