Vanessa Anne Hudgens, the star
who portrays Gabrielle Montez on the runaway hit "High School Musical" has
signed an exclusive recording deal with Hollywood Records; it was announced
today by Buena Vista Music Group Chairman Bob Cavallo. Her yet-to-be-titled
debut CD is slated for a September 26 release.
Said Cavallo, "We are delighted to have Vanessa at Hollywood. Not only
is she talented, she is tireless in her work ethic and has a vision for her
career. People will be very impressed when they hear her voice and see her
perform."
Certainly, Vanessa is no stranger to performing. She made her feature
film debut in Catherine Hardwick's "Thirteen" starring Holly Hunter and
Evan Rachel Wood. Most recently she co-starred in the action-adventure film
"Thunderbirds" and is a recurring guest star on The Disney Channel's "The
Suite Life of Zach & Cody." Vanessa began her acting career in musical
theater when she was 8 years old. She has played leading and supporting
roles in "Evita," "Carousel," "The Wizard of Oz," "The King & I," "The
Music Man," "Cinderella," and "Damn Yankees," among others.

I found HSM to be a pathetic degrading insult to the millions who attend(ed) a normal high school. Yet now they've decided to continue this joke and do a sequel. As for this girl, she'll likely be successful, considering the sales the movie and soundtrack have brought up.

I really like this girl, very good looking and seems vocally talented, but she is going to turn into another Hilary Duff if she doesn't work hard to separate herself from her roots ("High School Musical and the Disney Channel as a whole) if she is to be taken seriously. The only I've even known to do this and truly be successful is Kelly Clarkson ("American Idol") and she is becoming legendary at this point. We'll see how this goes, but she has attention for the time being.

Ashley Tisdale = flop. Sorry, she should definately stick to acting. Everything from the Disney Channel seems to cross over to singing at one point or another. Every single show is represented now.
