I live in an unincorporated area but its like 20 minutes from downtown Los Angeles and its fine
When I get my own place I won't live in the city though. It's too hectic. Too many cars, traffic buildings and people. It actually makes me very nervous and anxious.
In the city, I want to be close to shops, my work, places to eat, etc. You can still find areas that are nice and quiet to live in close to those places.
I live in the suburbs currently so i say the suburbs, but not somewhere super stuffy and closed off. I'd want to be close to the city but still have quietness and serenity.
I was born and raised in the suburbs and I hate it, everything is superficial and generic. I would like to live in the city for a couple decades but when it's time to settle down, I think I'd appreciate the foresty-rural areas more (awesome for stoners).
