Celeb News: Pixie Lott Lands Role In TV Period Drama

We all know and love Pixie Lott for her music. The singer-songwriter has two successful studio albums under her belt, collaborations with music heavyweights such as Stevie Wonder and John Legend, a performance at the 2012 London Olympics and a reportedly "motown-inpsired" third album on its way.

It's a wonder that Pixie has time for anything but music in her life, however it's been announced that Pixie will be starring in the sixties drama, Inspector George Gently.

Pixie studied acting at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and by the age of 14 was already well versed on the stage, having played the part of Louisa von Trapp in the Sound Of Music. Now, she's gone back to her acting roots, we're assuming in-between perfecting her next album.

The singer is set to play Megan, a holiday camp entertainer at the Blue Bird holiday camp in a feature-length one-off of the mystery drama. Set in 1969, we're hoping to see Pixie hit our screens in some iconic vintage outfits, but it could be we just see her in a Butlins-style red coat. We'll have to wait and see.
The filming is due to take place next month in Northumberland, let's hope the weather has warmed up by then since holiday camps are no fun in the snow.

Matthew Bird, the producer of the film, told the Coventry Telegraph: "Pixie was very excited about joining the cast and we are delighted that Pixie is to make her TV acting debut in Inspector George Gently - we know she will bring something very special to the role."

And Pixie is raring to go as well, she revealed: "I love the fact that Inspector George Gently is a period drama set in the Sixties and I can't wait to play the role of Megan.

"It will be great to be filming in the North East, and getting to play a role that gives me a real feel for the period."

I'm well excited for this! She's always said she wanted to do some serious acting (Fred doesn't count) and I'm proud!

Only means that album 3 could be pushed back even more though?

Yes, it will, because she will be busy with filming and will have no time to promote her album.single...
