the Defense Of Marriage Act. it's a federal law that only sees marriage as one man and one woman, even if the individual states recognize same sex marriage and legalizes it.
I suppose then we can move to more pressing matters in the queer community beyond having a slice of the pie once reserved for heterosexuals who could afford it.
There's already a thread for this but this is huge. If y'all didn't know, gay couples pay more taxes than straight couples because of this. There's also tons and tons of benefits a gay couple can't receive because of DOMA.
