The Saturdays: 'Twitter trolls are faceless cowards'
Quote:
The Saturdays have opened up about the abuse they receive from Twitter.
The band, who are currently on course to claim their first number one single, revealed that they have got death threats from followers.
Vanessa White said to More magazine: "I'd be lying if I said they didn't upset you. One tweet read, 'Hope your plane crashes and you all die'."
Una Healy added: "You may only see one tweet, but it can get you down for the whole day. At one point I had the worst abuse for going out drinking. Whenever I blocked [the troll], they'd reappear under a new name.
"It got so bad I called the police. They said, 'Well, actually, that's not our department'. There should be stricter laws to stop the faceless cowards."
The group went on to say that they believe the best thing to do is just ignore the abuse.
Idk why artists need to lower themselves to comment about faceless haters on the internet. I'm not saying to ignore it or that the hate is justified, but honestly there will always be a dissenting opinion of anybody in the public eye and short of it affecting their careers and personal lives, it's absolutely not worth engaging.
