It doesn't mean it was accessed by someone else. It's you accessing it from an unfamiliar location and Facebook and other big sites have to lock you out unless you prove it's you.
Accessing your account from a different location will make any big website curious and will block until you confirm. It's not someone else accessing your account.
You have to go through 'recover my account' if Facebook feel it's an actual threat. That involves choosing the correct names of a picture of your friend from a list of choices, getting another friend on your account to type in a password that Facebook sends you and asking your security questions. Horrible, I had to go through it when I moved house 2 hours away from where I used to live.
