Why do some gays frown down on lesbians, bisexuals, and/or transgenders? Or why do some gays frown down on flamboyantly gay males or masculine lesbians? Why is there discrimination among each other. I don't understand it. I've seen quite a few gay guys talk about lesbians in disgust and vice versa.
I just thought considering the fact that homosexuality is homosexuality that a gay guy would not hate a lesbian and vice versa. It just seems, to me, as if they'd stick together.
I've seen it discussed on here before, there is definitely a portion of gay men that are hypocritical in that way, but it's more about being human than gay because there are lots of different people who hold hypocritical points of view like that.
I remember at one point in my life I was a self-loathing gay because I saw all these guys get with each other and I could never have a boyfriend or anyone to have sex with. I think low self-esteem can contribute to discrimination.

I know....
What I was getting at is that this community doesn't just discriminate against sexual orientations.
I think many gay males here seem to have prejudices against Lesbians. I often see people referring to them as butch or are assuming that a girl is a lesbian just because she looks manly. However; there are many lesbian girls, including myself, who look very girly and are attracted to girly looking women as well. It's comparable to the common stereotype about gay males: some of them act indeed girly, but not all of them do.
It's very deep... I actually think it comes with how women are still seen as inferior.. hear me out
think about how we insult girls and guys...
take notice that all the insults towards girls are about girls, and all the insult towards guys are them being referred to as girls.
I think that this is kind of the case as well with being a bottom and a top and flamboyant and masculine... You have no idea how much it annoys me when guys put on grindr to not be flamboyant... I mean, why such issues over it? they are so annoying...
i guess this doesn't work towards butch lesbians, but I have no issues with that
When our illustrious Bartender posted “The Bar Loves Homo Hop”, I knew I was going to have a lot to say on the matter as this is a subject that hits home with me on a multitude of levels. However it took me a few days to gather my thoughts. Which is why I was ever so gracious when our Bartender allowed me this opportunity to do a guest post.
One of the most infuriating things about being a queer black male is the fact you have to CONSTANTLY deal with the seemingly never-ending barrage of attacks and false accusations about how black people are more innately homophobic than any other group on the rest of the planet.
It's internalized homophobia, and it's not only gay people that are hypocritical like that. They were raised by society to think these things are wrong and while they might not actively think it their actions and words show differently.

Very good theory! I agree! ie stop being a girl is a common insult.
Happens in any minority group. It's annoying when it's those same gays who preach about acceptance and love when they pretty much dislike people of their own community. Hypocrisy is human nature apparently.
