Bey's new song is "disgusting" but "trendsetting" - Public
Quote:
The track, which is apparently just for fans and ISN'T an official single, features a very different sound for Bey and some pretty contro lyrics.
The song includes lyrics like: "I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world. Don’t forget it. Respect that. Bow Down b******."
And, in true Bey style, even references her time away to bring up daughter Blue Ivy - including that she's not just hubby Jay'Z's "little wife".
She sings: "I took my time to live my life but don’t think I’m just his little wife. Don’t get it twisted this is my sh*t."
Along with the track (which you might recognise from that O2 ad), Beyonce has released a new picture to run alongside it, featuring her as a little girl standing in a room full of trophies.
The song is apparently a mash-up of two tracks, with 'Bow Down' produced by Hit-Boy and 'I Been On' produced by Polow Da Don, Timbaland, and Planet VI.
Bey has caused a mixed reaction on Twitter, with some fans calling it "disgusting" and others labelling her a "trendsetter".
One fan wrote: "Proud to have got 58 sec into the new Beyonce track before beginning the difficult process of pulling my eyelashes out one by one."
Another wrote: "For a woman who upholds female empowerment and girl power, your latest single is "Bow Down Bitches" way to go Beyonce [sic]"
One disgruntled fan even went as far as to say Beyonce is trying to copy Rihanna's style, adding: "Beyonce sounds like shes tryna be rihanna in bow down! :/"
Even Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills wasn't impressed, tweeting: "Is that Beyonce song a joke?"
Despite the backlash, not everyone's hating Bey's new style.
One follower tweeted: "I don't think it's possible to have negative thoughts about Beyoncè, or any of her songs, she's queen #BowDown"
'Disgusting'? Some people really need hobbies.
And Radio 1 is terrified of anything that's 'urban' and not MOR so I'm not surprised about Scott Mills' feelings.
It's awful, and the stans are just caught up in their delusion.
Agreed. I guess the hive is just happy they got a single. The song is terrible, there's a difference between cofidence and arrogant/obnoxious and apparently bey can't tell the difference.
!! Plus it's not a song, it's two snippets of two different songs.
Why can't people just have fun. Then again, the snippets are usually made to give buzz so I guess they are fulfilling their goal.
