Let's be real.She has everything.
Her songwriting is some of the best out there.
Especially lyrically she's a genius
Quote:
And it's peaceful
In the deep
Cathedral where you
Can not breathe
No need to pray
No need to speak
Now I am under
Quote:
The grass was so green
Against my new clothes,
And I did cartwheels in your
Honor dancing on tiptoes
My own secret ceremonials
Before the service began
In the graveyard
Doing handstands
Quote:
And all of the ghouls come out to play
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn
And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around
Quote:
I took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you
Her live vocals are outof this world
Especially from 2:42 forward
She serves songs others can wish to create once in a career and does it effortlessly on every album such as "No light,no light" or "Shake it out" or "Cosmic Love"
So is it safe to say there is no-one who rivals her whole package?
The only artist I see close is P!nk but still your thoughts?
She's a incredibly talented singer and performer but her lyrics can be hit or miss for me. But even at their worst, they're not 'bad' just pointlessly abstract and fanciful. I enjoy her lyrics best when they're grounded in her actual feeling rather than stories of sorcery and fantasy, like Never Let Me Go and No Light No Light.
While the "swords and sorcery" approach to her lyrics and writing is a part of her brand, I would love for her to tone it down for her upcoming record. Her music can resonate with her audience better if it's not bogged down with unnecessary (imo) allusions to paganism and witches. It feels more like a put-on sometimes tbh.
